The Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) developed this initiative to:
“Recognize the important services that CCPA members and counsellors, counselling therapists, and psychotherapists at large, provide to Canadians Offer support to practitioners in their practice via professional development and networking opportunities, Increase the profile of the profession through public awareness and advocacy initiatives Raise awareness of CCPA’s recommendations to the Federal Government” (CCPA Toolkit, p.5) https://www.ccpa-accp.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/CP-Month-Outreach-Toolkit-Trousse-de-sensibilisation-du-Mois-du-CP.pdf The hashtag associated with it is #accessmentalhealthcare

There is also a Yellow Day on April 12th where individuals within the profession are encouraged to wear yellow as recognition and appreciation for the counselling and psychotherapy profession https://www.ccpa-accp.ca/yellow-day/

Students do not have to be CCPA members to participate in events – some are also offered for free.

Please take a picture of yourself – maybe at your desk 😉 – wearing yellow and send the picture to Erin Hatfield [email protected]  to share on our social media for April 12th. We want to support this amazing new – and important – initiative! Let your school and professional spirit fly
